Submit your poems to Lucidity
A National Poetry Journal since 1985
As an art form, poetry shares with music, sculpture and canvas a wide spectrum of style. Writers range from the earthy to the ethereal and from the abstract to the concrete. And so it should be since there is room under the poetry tree for diversity. But in recent years we have been flooded with the obtuse and the obscure in poetry so we are never sure what the poet is attempting to say; the lines are so convoluted it appears the poem is much like a riddle or conundrum lacking a lucid train of thought.
Feeling that poetry should communicate rather than confuse or mystify, I set out in 1985 to establish Lucidity as a national journal of verse that features understandable poetry. We look for poems that have clarity and focus, so the audience can both comprehend and applaud the lines. We want poets that write mature, polished and professional verse that deals with people and the human sceneevents and relationships.
Material is always being assembled on a year-round basis, and there are no deadlines nor seasonal themes. We have no advertising nor government grants, but totally depend on subscriptions and entry/reading to survive.
